Hajiya Ibrahim Calls On All Authorities To Ensure Democracy Survives With Unity And Not Division

Princess Hadiza Ibrahim congratulates all Nigerians especially Kogites over the remarkable ceremony marking the 21 year of un-interrupted democracy in Nigeria.

As a renown, longtime pro-democratic campaigner and one of the 2019 Governorship Aspirants under the platform of All Progressive Congress; Princess Hadiza Ibrahim has called on all democratic authorities in Nigeria to use the event of Democracy Day Celebrations to exhibit the spirits of Sportmanship, Peace and Harmony while going about their lawful duties.

She speak thus;

\”I equally charged Authorities irrevocably at all time to always exemplify the purpose for which the principles of gender equality especially between men and women across governance systems interms of leadership, to be positive and result oriented. This principle should not wane but should rather be expanded to accomodate more women into our systems. Through this we would have allowed rooms for equal representations and governance among men and women at all levels\”.

She also said that the occasion of
\”June 12 as Democracy Day instead of May 29 as approved and announced by President Muhammadu Buhari led administration should be seen as a moment for sober reflections. All of us at the positions of authority must not allow the temptation that can lead to democracy failure, because If democracy fails, we would unavoidably enter into dictatorship; where we would be told, what to do, accept class separations and loose the power for future political positive changes\”.

She also added thus: \”We must equally ensure we do not separate citizens needs because we cannot segregate citizens needs without segregating the citizens themselves. By so Doing, we will create a climate of \”He who shouts the loudest, gets the most attention(benefits) thereby creating divisions in a democratic systems; where it\’s meaning differs to the different classes.

The above no doubt are unhealthy in a democratic state like Nigeria.

From my experience; Having participated Nationally at different fora, I could humbly described myself as a great democratic apologist with high respect for democracy norms and values. Democracy should be based on the idea that: ALL Citizens must have the same rights within the Government and the laws it creates must be for everyone.

The problem is when the Government creates laws or programs that single out one class of people from others.

If a law is created, it must apply to all citizens.

The Punishment for a crime is also handed out, in as much as it can, with equal results. When the Government creates a program, these programs should apply to ALL citizens.

A good example is our tax laws. Seems one class of citizen has no choice but to pay, but others have loop holes granted to them by our Government where they pay nothing. For this to be Democratic, a single tax payer system is required.

She also finally commended the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari for the declaration of june 12 as the real democracy day which eventually has turned to be a posthumous honour to the 1993 Presidential hopeful of Social Democratic Party for paying the supreme price for the entrenchment of democratic ideals and values.

She also categorically stated that \”democracy as a system is elastic in nature. Opportunities for women and youth to grow and develop politically must always be provided without sentiment, vituperations and relegation.

Finally with the positive resolves in our minds while going the right directions, our democracy shall grow boundlessly and limitlessly for the introduction of the needed positive rationality in governance.

\”Equality and truth inculcated into the citizenries are the only dependable potent tools for sociocultural, economic and political transformations of our Nigerian people and the country in general\”(Hadizamotors 2020)
